A cutting edge R&D company are looking for a Network Engineer to manage the day-to-day operation of their network infrastructure. This role involves configuring and maintaining network hardware, diagnosing issues, and ensuring security across the network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, install, and automate network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Perform cabling installation and replacement in an active data center.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving network issues.
- Manage IP allocations, DNS records, firewall rules, and routing configurations.
- Provide input on network design with a focus on security.
- Configure and maintain servers providing network services (DNS, DHCP, VPN, proxies).
- Document network configurations and manage infrastructure changes.
- Adhere to policies and procedures and promote continuous improvement.
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience in network and security maintenance, including upgrades, patches, and security configurations.
- Knowledge of network security standards and practices.
- Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (Ethernet, IP routing, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NTP).
- Linux network configuration experience, including addressing, VLANs, and firewall configuration.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve network performance issues.
